PST, Pacific Standard Time, is UTC−8. PDT, Pacific Daylight Time, is UTC−7 and applies from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November. The clock above shows Los Angeles's actual time with today's label. Calling it "PST" in summer is a common mistake.
PST or PDT? Dates for 2026 to 2028
- Sunday 8 March 2026: at 02:00 clocks go forward to 03:00. PST (UTC−8) becomes PDT (UTC−7), and the hour in between is skipped.
- Sunday 1 November 2026: at 02:00 clocks go back to 01:00. PDT (UTC−7) becomes PST (UTC−8), and the hour from 01:00 happens twice.
- Sunday 14 March 2027: at 02:00 clocks go forward to 03:00. PST (UTC−8) becomes PDT (UTC−7), and the hour in between is skipped.
- Sunday 7 November 2027: at 02:00 clocks go back to 01:00. PDT (UTC−7) becomes PST (UTC−8), and the hour from 01:00 happens twice.
- Sunday 12 March 2028: at 02:00 clocks go forward to 03:00. PST (UTC−8) becomes PDT (UTC−7), and the hour in between is skipped.
- Sunday 5 November 2028: at 02:00 clocks go back to 01:00. PDT (UTC−7) becomes PST (UTC−8), and the hour from 01:00 happens twice.
Where Pacific Time is used
California, Washington, Nevada and most of Oregon, plus a small part of northern Idaho, all switch between PST and PDT. So does Baja California in Mexico, which kept its clock changes in step with California when the rest of Mexico abolished daylight saving time in 2022.
British Columbia has left Pacific Time as it was. The province moved to permanent UTC−7 on 9 March 2026, so its clocks will not go back on 1 November 2026. In summer, Vancouver still matches Seattle and Los Angeles. In winter it is one hour ahead of them.
PST in the Philippines
Philippine Standard Time is also abbreviated PST, but it is UTC+8, sixteen hours ahead of US Pacific Standard Time. Check which one is meant if a message comes from Manila.
