What ExactLocalTime does
ExactLocalTime helps you answer three questions: what time is it somewhere else, what time will it be there on a particular date, and when will that change? The site includes:
- current-time pages for 99 cities and 37 countries and territories, each with its time zone, exact 2026–2027 clock change dates and time differences;
- a time zone converter that works on any date and handles the hours skipped or repeated when clocks change;
- a meeting planner that finds slots inside everyone's working day and skips local weekends;
- city pair pages with worked examples around each clock change;
- pages explaining time zone abbreviations, and guides to GMT and UTC, UK and US time, daylight saving time and planning international meetings.
Where the times come from
All time zone rules on the site come from the IANA time zone database, the standard source used by operating systems, phones and servers. The pages currently use release 2026c. Clocks take the current moment from your device's clock and apply those rules to work out each local time.
We build the rules into the site rather than relying only on your browser. When governments change their rules at short notice, many devices take weeks or months to get the update. In 2026, British Columbia, Alberta and Morocco all changed their time rules. Building the rules in keeps our clocks correct even on devices that have not been updated.
How we check our work
Before each update, automated tests compare our clocks, converter and meeting planner with the IANA database at hundreds of moments, including the exact minutes when clocks change. Dates in our guides are generated from, or checked against, the same data and official sources such as the UK government's clock-change page. Our editorial policy has the details.
