Currently on AEDT (UTC+11). Next clock change: Sunday 4 April 2027 at 03:00, when clocks go back to AEST (UTC+10).
AEST, Australian Eastern Standard Time, is UTC+10. AEDT, Australian Eastern Daylight Time, is UTC+11 and applies from the first Sunday of October to the first Sunday of April in New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania. The clock above shows Sydney's actual time with today's label, so it reads AEDT during the southern summer.

Queensland stays on AEST
Queensland uses AEST all year and does not change its clocks. From October to April, Brisbane is one hour behind Sydney and Melbourne, even though they share a time zone name in winter.
The rest of Australia
South Australia uses ACST (UTC+9:30) and ACDT (UTC+10:30), changing on the same dates as Sydney. The Northern Territory stays on ACST all year, and Western Australia stays on AWST (UTC+8). In the southern summer, mainland Australia therefore runs on at least five different clock times.
Australia and the northern hemisphere
Australia's clocks go forward when Europe's go back, so the gap with London swings by two hours over the year. Sydney is 9 hours ahead of London in the northern summer and 11 hours ahead in the northern winter, with short 10-hour periods in between. See London and Sydney for exact dates.
